MOLO Village CDC is a grassroots organization committed to addressing some of the complex issues that face the Russell community. Our primary goal is engaging residents of the Russell Neighborhood, particularly from Beecher Terrace, in holistic approaches to community development.
MOLO’s mission is to transform, empower, and renew the lives of those who we serve through education, community service, advocacy, and healthy living.
MOLO’s vision is to support the growth of healthy, engaged and productive residents prepared to take their families and their neighborhood on a path to prosperity.
“MOLO” means “welcome” in Xhousa (a South African dialect); at MOLO Village, everyone is welcome to add their own contributions since “it takes a village.” MOLO’s inclusive village consists of five “hamlets,” (or programmatic areas) each with a unique focus that grows a community of healthy, engaged and productive residents preparing to take their families and their neighborhood on a path to prosperity.
· The Restored Village – Programming within this village is uniquely designed to support ex-offenders and reduce recidivism.
·The Healthy Village – Activities and referrals to support the holistic health of all community members.
·The Empowered Village – Empowering residents to develop and implement their own individualized self-improvement plans and supporting their journey through programming, activities, and referrals.
·The Future Village – Events and activities to meet the needs of Russell’s children and youth.
·The Isiduko Village – Programming and activities to meet the needs of Russell’s senior adults.
